We wanted to take this opportunity to thank our lovely and hard-working volunteers who play a central and vital role in our work. The School Bank would not run without the help of our volunteers. They help us to collect from our donation points, wash, mend and sort second-hand items of clothing, make up packs and so much more. Not forgetting our Board of Trustees, in particular our Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, working tirelessly to help steer us as we go forward. What an amazing bunch you are!

Well done to both teams at James Young High School

Well done to both teams at James Young High School representing us at YPI Scotland in the finals this week! It was a privilege to come along and see all the young people talking so passionately about their chosen charities. The atmosphere was tense as it was a tough task to present in a big lecture theatre to a panel of judges and a large audience - a huge achievement. We were super proud of both teams, well done!

Congratulations to the girls team who secured a donation of £3k for The School Bank West Lothian. Thank you also to their teachers for helping them to make the most of YPI and to the judges for seeing that £3k will make a big difference to the young people our service helps. It's that time of year again that we look back and tot up the numbers to see what we have accomplished. Some of the stats will make you wince, some will make you sad and others will restore your faith in humanity!😩🥹🥰

The School Bank West Lothian has been a constituted charity for over 7 years and with the help of our funders, referrers, volunteers, and supporters we have provided over 6,000 packs to children right here in West Lothian. Each and every pack has helped a child go to school with their head held high, more able to take on the challenges of the school day. Thank you to each and everyone of you who have made this happen, we are truly humbled by your generosity and kindness. ❤

Do you work with an organisation that struggles to cope with items of unclaimed uniform, PE kit or jackets? If you have items which has not been claimed by young people, employees or parents, we would gratefully receive these. These items are extremely valuable to us as we top up our uniform packs with recycled good quality clothing and very poor-quality clothing can be recycled through our rag bag container.

Huge thank you to Longridge Community Association - West Lothian for their very generous cash donation of £100.

David from the committee told us "we only recently became aware of this wonderful organisation and the hugely positive impact it has, even in small communities such as ours. With the current cost of living crisis affecting more families/young people in our communities we really wanted to give back, in any small way we could. It's a big relief knowing that there is help out there to allow kids to go to school feeling comfortable and happy". 🙂

🎗Mental Health Awareness Week!🎗

We all know how important it is to keep our mental health in check as adults, but it is just as important for children too! Exercise is a well proven benefit for good mental health. Schools across the country provide 2 hours of physical activity per week, which is fantastic but if a child doesn't have the appropriate kit to take part they miss out. We include a full PE kit as part of our uniform packs meaning that no child will be left out.
