Most children start the new school year with brand new uniform but sadly this is not the case for all children. Last year, with the help of 300 sponsors, we provided over 700 uniform packs for children across West Lothian, starting or returning to school in August. Can you help “sponsor a child” by providing a uniform pack?

With each school pack provided, one family can worry less about coping with the ever-increasing cost of the school day, and one child can worry less about how they look compared to their classmates. School uniform is so much more than a new uniform or a pair of shiny shoes, it’s the feeling of belonging to your school community and being like your classmates. The transformative power of these feelings cannot be underestimated.

We are mindful that many of us are feeling the effects of the cost-of-living-crisis so there are several different ways you can support our campaign:

1) Become a sponsor and buy a uniform pack. Once registered we will contact you when we receive a referral for a child, its then up to you to buy any of the items required, drop them off to us and we then pass them on to the child. To register and become a sponsor: https://tinyurl.com/5hcjhv3c

2) Alternatively, if you don’t have the time to shop but would still like to sponsor a child you can donate via Charities Aid Foundation. We will purchase the items and ensure that a child in West Lothian is given a pack paid for by you. To donate: https://tinyurl.com/5x4cn3pt

3) You can donate items to be added to our packs such as brand-new socks, tights, school bags, PE kit, gym bags and water bottles. Donating this way allows you to take advantage of sales and promotions.

4) Donate second-hand uniform/jackets that your child no longer needs, we can re-use them to top up our packs.

By helping The School Bank West Lothian to provide something as small as a uniform pack, you are delivering a far bigger message: that every child, within the West Lothian community, deserves to feel like they belong at school. This is our main fundraiser of the year, and we rely heavily on your support to help us cope with the demand for our service. We are very grateful for any donations; every little bit of help and support is appreciated.
