PRESS RELEASE

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery support The School Bank West Lothian to provide school uniform to 800 children in West Lothian!

We are delighted to announce that players of People’s Postcode Lottery have awarded The School Bank West Lothian £20, 000 to support the running of the charity over the next year.

The funds have been awarded through People’s Postcode Trust; a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Thank you very much to the Trust, and to everyone who plays the lottery, and who made this funding possible.

During the next year we expect to support over 800 children by providing them with a school uniform pack. This funding award will allow us to continue to employ our Project Co-ordinator, Collette Moran, to manage the office in Livingston, handle our day to day work, and to run our incredibly successful annual Sponsor A Child Campaign with the help of a summer worker.

School Bank West Lothian Chair, Kirstin Shemilt, stated that “The Board of Trustees are delighted to have been awarded this grant from The People’s Postcode Trust which provides vital funding to continue to support our work over the next year.”

Treasurer, Rachel Annand, noted that The School Bank West Lothian has grown very quickly since becoming a Charity in 2016 and relies on both grants and donations, including the very generous people of West Lothian especially through the Sponsor A Child Appeal. “As Treasurer, I cannot under-estimate the importance of the grant awarded by The People’s Postcode Trust which will allow the project to continue to make a difference to so many children and their families in West Lothian over the next year. This is our largest single year grant to date and is vital to us being able to continue to employ our part-time Project Co-ordinator.”

Mairi Harkness, one of the Trustee’s responsible for making funding applications, says “This really is great news. The grant gives us peace of mind knowing that the running costs of The School Bank West Lothian are covered for the next twelve months. This will allow us to focus on day to day running of the charity and on helping as many children in West Lothian as we can reach. Many thanks to all at the Postcode Lottery and Trust!”
