Challenge Poverty Week is looking busy! Here is a taster of what the week has in store for our team:
Later today we are launching our Winter Warmer Appeal. It’s a call to action: to our supporters and referrers to help us ensure that every child who need’s a jacket, to get to school warm and dry, receives a jacket. It’s simple but vital to all young people’s education and life chances. Let’s do it for the kids!
We are continuing our “once worn clothing appeal” for second-hand Halloween and Christmas jumpers/t-shirts/accessories. Our volunteers sort them and we re-distribute items to children in need in our local community so everyone can take part in these every day activities. No landfill here please! Drop off at your local red collection bin https://schoolbank-westlothian.org/drop-off-points/
We have two volunteer sorting sessions booked for this week. Staff from Q2labsolutions and University of Edinburgh are giving their time to help sort donations that we can then use to top up our packs.
Our Project Manager is presenting at a Community Group’s afternoon tea, raising awareness about our service and sharing how the community can get involved in supporting us.
Our team were working hard with partners across West Lothian to tackle poverty by attending the Tackling Poverty Conference at Howden Park.
It’s a busy one right enough!
