Within the last few weeks our Project Assistant, Courtney, has been undergoing some valuable training which has included the opportunity to visit several other charities in West Lothian to learn about the ways in which they operate, the differences between each and the importance of working together.
Courtney said “I got to visit Dignity Boxes and hear from Isabel Dosser, the founder. It’s a charity that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of those in need by providing essential hygiene packs for individuals and for families including shower gels, shampoo and conditioner, feminine hygiene products and more. The charity works with many other organisations to provide this anonymous service across the Lothians including organisations who work with full-service sex workers, women of colour in vulnerable positions, high schools, primary schools and higher education buildings, housing associations, partnership centres and more.
This charity is extremely valuable to communities within the Lothians, providing individuals and families with dignity and basic toiletries. As a small charity, ever donation counts. Donation boxes can be found in Morrison’s at Carmondean, Bathgate, Dalkeith, Granton and Moredun. Plus, Partnership Centres in East Calder, Strathbrock, Fauldhouse and Armadale. Also in The Lounge hairdressers in Armadale, West Calder community centre. “
