There are a number of ways to help us help the children of West Lothian
Donate to The School Bank
The School Bank West Lothian is a small charity and we are reliant on assistance and donations to allow us to help our local children with the cost of the school day.
We help around 130 children each month and as a result we need a large amount of stock and donations on a regular basis throughout the year. We appreciate all donations and offers of support – both large and small – including volunteering and fundraising. Every little bit helps.
Here are ways you could help us …
SPONSOR A CHILD CAMPAIGN
Our sponsor a child campaign is our flagship campaign that runs from May to August every year.
Sponsoring a child gives you the opportunity to purchase a school uniform for a local child in need. You can sponsor a child as an individual or even share the cost with friends, family or a team of work colleagues.
By sponsoring a child, you are making a massive positive difference to the life experience of that young person.
DONATING UNIFORMS, SHOES, BAGS AND SCHOOL KIT
We accept donations of new and excellent condition used uniform, jackets, shoes and school bags. It would be great when donating preloved uniform if you could …

Please wash clothes before donating, it saves our volunteers doing this.

It’s a massive help if you can remove all LABELS with names of children.

The School Bank West Lothian is a small charity and we are reliant on donations to allow us to help our local children with the cost of the school day.

HELP US AS A VOLUNTEER
Give your time! We always welcome volunteers and you can help by:
- Taking part in group clothes sorting sessions
- Becoming a nominated collector from one of our donation points
- Wash clothes that need a freshen up
- Take part in stock takes
- Basic mending of clothes
- Make up uniform packs
- Take part in ad hoc events such a bag packing at a supermarket.
Our volunteer sessions are small and typically last 2 hours – we have a cuppa and a blether whilst we work away together. We love regular volunteers but we also love folk who can come along now and then.
FUNDRAISERS AND COLLECTIONS
The School Bank West Lothian is a registered charity and is therefore the perfect recipient for your fundraising.
If you are involved in a fundraiser or clothing collection, or are aware of an upcoming event you want to participate in we would be delighted to hear from you. Or you may be a local group or employer looking to nominate a charity to support as a one-off or or over a period of time – we would be delighted to have you come and visit us and find out how we can work together. Its wonderful when local people help local initiatives. Where we can, we are also keen to support our young people locally through the Youth Philanthropy scheme and other initiatives to support Volunteering Awards.
You can fundraise as an individual, a group, a company, a school or an organisation. Your support will be greatly appreciated and your donation will be a wonderful contribution to our resources, helping The School Bank West Lothian help local children across West Lothian.
