As part of #SelfEvaluationWeek, we’re reflecting on how school uniforms can help us care for both young people and our planet. ![]()
With funding from Climate Action West Lothian and Edinburgh Airport, we’ve been supporting schools across the region to create and strengthen uniform recycling hubs.![]()
Uniform hubs are a practical, accessible way for school communities to reduce waste and extend the life of clothing. By reusing good-quality items, from everyday uniform to jackets, we’re helping to cut down on textile waste and lower the carbon impact of buying new.
Uniform hubs are so much more than clothing. It’s about:
Meeting need quickly and with dignity
Easing financial pressure on families, esp expensive items like blazers
Reusing and recycling to reduce clothing waste
Encouraging environmental responsibility among pupils
What this shows us is simple: small actions make a big difference. By reusing and sharing, we’re not just supporting families – we’re helping build a more sustainable future for our community. ![]()
