This picture says it all — but the real story is written in the smiles, the relief and the confidence of 632 young people who stepped out into the cold this winter wrapped in warmth, dignity and care. That’s a 39% increase on last year — and behind every number is a child who no longer had to choose between braving the freezing walk to school or staying home.
Over the winter months, we equipped hundreds of young people with packs filled with warm jackets, hats, gloves, hoodies and winter footwear. Through our Uniform Hubs in schools and communities, even more children received the essential clothing they needed. Because of this, children arrived at school warm, able to focus, able to play, able to simply be children.
Warmth is not a luxury. It’s not a bonus. It’s a basic right. And this winter, together, we protected that right. For many young people, these items mean more than comfort. They mean: not sitting in class distracted by the cold, not missing school because they don’t have suitable shoes – they feel valued and cared for. That impact is immeasurable.
We could never have achieved this without the extraordinary kindness of every single person and organisation who supported us over the winter period, including:
Every supporter who “sponsored a child” and gifted one of the 322 winter clothing packs —the thought and care put into every pack was truly felt by each young person who received one.
Everyone who donated brand-new jackets, hoodies, socks, wellies and more — especially as demand surged in the run-up to Christmas — you stepped up exactly when young people needed you most.
To those who took part in our Fill-A-Bag initiative, donating beautiful bags packed with tights, cosy socks, toiletries, sweet treats and essentials — you gave comfort as well as warmth.
To every person who made a monetary donation — large or small — you helped us purchase the supplies we desperately needed.
To the organisations and funders who held events, donated stock or financially supported the campaign — your belief in our mission helps make this work possible.
To those who donated high-quality second-hand items — you not only topped up our packs but helped us reduce landfill.
To everyone who liked, shared and championed our campaign online — your voices amplified our reach.
To those who hosted our red community collection points — thank you for being true community champions.
And finally, to our incredible team — Abbie, Roz, Janine and Collette — alongside our Operations Volunteers, Community Collection Volunteers, Washing Volunteers and dedicated Board of Trustees. You worked tirelessly behind the scenes, lifting, sorting, packing and delivering hope in every single pack.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for helping us wrap young people not just in coats and boots, but in warmth and compassion. ![]()
